Christmas Open House(s)

We were overjoyed to open The Hartzell Homestead for a special Christmas Open House on December 14, 2019. The day was filled with love and laughter as we celebrated with family and friends. We would like to extend a special thank you to all who helped make the first day open a memorable success.

Here are a few pics from our December Saturdays. Looking forward to meeting new friends and spending more time with those who have journeyed along with us! May we enter 2020 with a sharp vision for what’s most important in our lives.

Learning the Craft of Soapmaking

We just LOVE handcrafted soap! It’s one of those things we buy in every little shop or craft fair we visit! My girls and I began studying the craft a couple of years ago making a test batch here and there. The more we made, the more interested we became! This past summer I planned a retreat with each of my girls to the Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mt. View, AR. Gracie and I spent two days with Traci in the Candle Shop in June, then later in July, Shelby and I spent two days with Aunt Linda in the Apothecary Shop. Each visit was so very special – we learned many new crafts, made precious new friends and priceless memories. In each one of our classes, though, we learned a different method of soap making (Hot and Cold Process). By the end of the summer, we were completely enthralled with the craft! Since then we’ve purchased many books, studied blogs, and worked through tutorials to refine our craft. For us, it’s about appreciating the history of soap making, loving the endless creative recipes we develop, learning from a wonderful community of soapers and enjoying time spent together! Some of our recipes are pure, simple, and natural, while others are fun and fragranced. This is truly a craft with endless options! You may purchase some of our soaps at our booth in Antique Addictions & Collectibles or visit us at a local craft fair (see schedule in The Hartzell Homestead Store)
